powerpoint >> text not changing color with slide design change

Version: 2004
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
Processor: Intel

For my presentation, I want to be able to alternate between using 2 different slide masters, depending on the lighting in the room. One slide master has a dark background with light text, the other has light background with dark text. I saved the slide masters as design templates, so I choose one or the other through Format/Slide Design menu. However, when I choose the dark background design, only some of the text changes to the light color. Some stays black. If there are 2 text boxes on a page, one might be light, the other dark. Within a text box, some text might be light, some dark. The light background design works fine. There are no objects on the slide master. What am I doing wrong?

Generally, the changes that to the colors in the slide design only affect
text that is in placeholders (those boxes that say "click here to add
text"). Text that is placed in a newly created textbox won't be affected by
the change that you made.

1. Change slide design but not text color

I have several presentations (MS Office 2003) with a solid color background.
I want to change the slide design to one of the other available choices, but
when I do, the colors of the text and lines change. How can I apply a new
slide design but still retain the original text and line colors?

2. Change color scheme, not design

3. Change button text AND change slides

I have several buttons* on one slide

In the slide show I want to click a button to move to another slide - easy,
just hyperlink to the other slide, but I should like the clicking of the
button to also change the colour of the text in that button so it is clear,
when returning later to the slide with buttons, which buttons have already
been clicked.

I know hyperlinks change once clicked but I do not want the text in the
button to be underlined so I am hyperlinking the button, not the text within
the button.

So my question is how is a macro called from a mouse click within a
slideshow?
