Help! I'm trying to apply a template to an existing presentation. I've figured that out with some help - now I need to know if there is a way to autofit the presentation to the template without moving every little box/graphic etc. This is taking me hours and hours!

I'm not 100% certain what you're doing or what you're expecting, but objects
placed on slides by the user are not affected by applying different Masters
or Design Templates. IOW, the built-in placeholders supplied on the various
Layouts will be resized & repositioned based on what the new Layouts
specify, but elements such as Text Boxes, Shapes, images, etc. which have
been placed on individual slides will be left as is. There is no magic
potion that rearranges furniture for you when you reconstruct the house :-)

What Bob said ... and also, are you perhaps applying a template whose slide size proportions
aren't the same as the presentation you're applying it to? For example, applying a 16:9
template to a 4:3 show? Applying templates won't change the slide size.

You might be better off creating a new presentation from the template you want to use then
insert slides from the original or add new slides to the new presentation then select
all/copy/paste the shapes from the original to the new.

2. Presentation crashes in PPT 04 but not PPT X

I have a presentation for a client that I did a few months back. I had
created it in the PPT version of Office X. I have countless other
presentations that I have successfully opened and worked on with PPT for
Office 2004 since it came out and this is the first time that I encounter
the following problem:

When I try to open that presentation, PPT crashes towards the end of opening
the file. However, if I try to open the file in either PPT for Office X or
PPT for Office XP on VPC, it works fine. I've tried saving it as, deleting
all charts and graphs, etc., to no avail. There is something in that
presentation that crashes it in the 04 version.

I've repaired the permissions and deleted the plists along with all of the
MS folder in preferences.

Does anybody have any suggestions?

Thanks!

4. Applying 2007 template to an existing ppt. presentation

I have a .potx file that I'd like to apply to an existing .ppt file. How do I
do this? I've tried "Office Butrton/New/recently used Templates/create/ ...
however I still can't figure out how to apply the template to my existing
ppt.
What am I missing?

Thanks.

6. Apply a template to a presentation via Automator

Hi;

I have written a short Automator workflow to combine PPT
presentations. This is based on the MS provided "Combine PowerPoint
Presentations" action. The 'combining' is working fine.

The problem is that the resulting "new presentation" has no template
applied. Plain black and white.

I have tried sending the .pot file into this workflow as the first or
last of the presentations to be combined, it is not applied.

So I'm wondering if anyone can make a suggestion about how to
accomplish applying a template to a PPT presentation via Automator.

Please do not respond with "well, after Automator is done, just open
the file and..." If you're thinking like, as far as I'm concerned,
you've missed the whole point of Automator.

Thanks for any suggestions, Jack

8. apply slide theme to inserted slides from another presentation

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard)

I inserted slides from another presentation to my new presentation. For a while I was able to change the inserted slides to the new presentation slide theme by highlighting them, and clicking on the slide theme. But suddenly I get a little icon (looks like an upside down L) and nothing changes. What happened? How can I apply the new slide theme (from the gallery) to my inserted slides? thanks.
