A program's failure to launch is quite frequently a permissions issue, so
the first thing to try is running Disk Utility - Repair Disk Permissions,
then restart your Mac.

Based on what little I understand from these error logs :-) I'd suggest you
apply the OS X 10.5.7 Combo Update from the Apple Downloads site. Run Disk
Utility - Repair Disk Permissions after doing so.

Thanks for your suggestion. I have already installed the 10.5.7 Combo Update and I tried running repair disk permissions again and still Power Point will not start. Before installing the latest works upgrade it Power Point ran without problems. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Then let's try a little basic troubleshooting;

Launch the program while holding the Shift key --
What happens?

Log out, hold the Shift key while you log in, then launch PPt --
What happens?

Create a new User Account, log in as that User & launch PPt --
What happens?

Sorry to report that I attempted all the above suggestions with no luck. Setup assistant runs smoothly, then PPt will not start, same error.

If you're saying you cannot even successfully launch PPt in a new user
account it suggests that something did not go completely right with the
application of the update.

I'd suggest that you first boot up from your OS X installation disk & run
Disk Utility - Repair Disk [Not permissions] to see if there might be a file
system problem. If any errors are reported run it as many times as
necessary until it gives a clean report. Alternatively, use Disk Warrior or
a comparable utility.

Once all is found to be OK apply the 12.1.7 update again as per the
instructions here - especially items #3 & #4:

I was working on a presentation for few days but used to save every 5

program will close but there was a check box to select in order to recover
the file and restart
PowerPoint. When I selected the check box and hit restart, two files where
listed under recovered file when power point opened, without looking in the
content (slides) of the two files, I selected the most recent one to save
assuming it has the latest changes I did at the moment of crash, I was asked

looked into the saved file it turned out that 5 slides where lost. They
appear

Please tell me where can I get the last complete work before the crash?
