Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

When creating shapes in PP using Windows, group them and then perform a paste special back into the presentation so that I maintain scale when changing the horizontal or vertical size. Everything works great until I send it through email and try and open it. The presentation has lost the images but maintains frames, etc. The weird thing is that when I performa a quick view the pictures are visible. I've tried saving as a ppt and a pptx.

Thanks

I'm not really sure why that is because I'm unable to reproduce it here. If
I create shapes using the Drawing Tools in PPt 2007, Group them, then open
the file with 2008 all is as expected - every time. It makes no difference
whether they're basic shapes of flowchart symbols with connectors or whether
they're simply drawn or whether they've been copied & pasted back in... But
that raises a couple of questions.

First, what version of PPt are you are you using on the PC? I'm afraid
"Windows" discloses nothing useful.

Secondly, what type of formatting or effects have you applied to the shapes?

Third, what object type are you selecting in Paste Special? - there are 8
different choices to pick from in the As: list.

Finally, why are you cutting & pasting in the first place? That may very
well be the source of the problem.

You can maintain proportion of a Grouped object just like you can for any
single shape: hold Shift while resizing using a corner handle. Or go to the
Group's Format properties & tick the box for Lock Aspect Ratio - that allows
manually scaling proportionately without using Shift as long as you use a
corner handle & also causes the Height/Width to be adjusted automatically to
a proportional value if you change one or the other in the Size property.

Also, have you tried zipping the file before sending as an attachment?

Thanks Bob,

I'm using Office 2007 on the windows machine. I've changed the shape of the picture to a square with round corners and added a simple heavy line as a frame. I'm pasting the picture as a metafile. I've done this a hundred times in the past and never had a problem. The reason for the cut/paste is: I'm taking a slide and then pasting it as a picture into another presentation. I have been able to just do a paste as picture but the resolution isn't that good. As for the scaling that works unless you have text within a shape or that is part of the grouping...that is why perform the paste as metafile. Also another question, I notice that bullet point formatting is different from the Mac to Windows, sometimes it adds some spaces, any ideas on that one? Thanks for the help is is possible to send you a sample file?

Hi
One of my colleague's power point can not show the pictures i created in
word. instead the picture displays in a white box with a red cross in the top
left corner. which is the same when you can not display pictures in
IExplorer. It is not the problem of the hardware acceleration.

4. Click to insert picture problem

I have Office 2007 and Windows 7(x64). I've been clicking on the picture
icon, the lower left icon of the 4 icons. I don't know what I did but
suddenly the window that opens to my pictures filled the entire screen. The
upper right corner has only the red X button, not the maximize and minimize
buttons. When I put the cursor on either the left or ride side or bottom, it
changes to the double-headed arrow which one usually uses to drag to change
the size of the window. But it doesn't work.

I've tried rebooting to no avail.

How do I get the window back to a smaller size so I can see the desktop or
other windows without just closing the window?

6. Email picture problem

I've been fighting this for awhile with no success. I hope someone can help.
On my wife's computer, she right clicks on a picture and clicks "send to"
then "mail recipient". Two small boxes open- "Send Pictures via Email" and
"Send Mail". The "Send pics via email" allows her to resize the picture and
when she clicks "OK" both boxes disappear and NOTHING happens. On my computer
the boxes will disappear, Outlook Express opens a "New Message" , the picture
is already on the attachment line and the name of the picture is on the
"Subject" line. I have tried everything I could find at Microsoft support
including 'reupgrading' XP Home. The computer used to do it but won't do it
now. Momma is not happy.

8. Equation Editor - the old pictures problem

Actually I've partly managed to answer my own question - I simply didn't go back far enough in my backups, and I've now managed to resurrect one that hasn't transformed my equations to pictures. So the problem is planted in the doc, not elsewhere.

But having got that far, I can't quite believe that I've had to wrestle with this bug again and that it's still not been fixed after all this time. When Word doesn't perform, it's a real monster. I've been toying with the idea for some time, but now I'm really going to take a look at Open Office.
