excel >> 2008: How do I remove from view buttons bar for "Sheets Charts SmartArt Graphics WordArt"

I'm sure the addition in Office 2008 of the following buttons bar that
displays between the toolbars and the top of workbooks has value:

Sheets Charts SmartArt Graphics WordArt

How do I remove that bar from view or from Excel preferences, please?

1. I find them distracting.
2. I have accidentally clicked one or another of the buttons when working
at the top of my Excel documents.

You don't - there's no provision to hide them.

The idea is that as the Elements Gallery evolves, there will be more and
more buttons/galleries there to make your life easier...

Let MacBU know you want to be able to hide the Elements Gallery toolbar
via Help/Send Feedback.

I don't really see the value in presenting the data this way (aside
from appeasing your professor). But, if you must...

You could get the data ordered in the way you (or the prof) wants, in
the spread sheet itself. Plot it, initially ignoring the colors. Then,
color each bar separately. To select an individual bar, select the
series and then press the right arrow key. Double click it and select
the color. All very tedious, but if it gets you an A, it might be
worth it!
