proxycfg.exe -u forces it to use IE's HTTP Proxy settings.

The communication for WU occuring over a proxy needs to be anonymous.

Troubleshooting Windows Update v.5 Authentication Issue

It is much simpler to do with ISA2004 than with ISA2000.

I always create an anonymous Access Rule for the specific WU destiantion
servers. I don't know when or if this will ever get corrected, or even if
it already has. But to me it isn't worth fighting with the authentication.
Just use anonymous access for those destination and be done with it.

In our environment I don't use WU anyway. I run a WSUS Server and the
machines update from it. The WSUS Server sits on the LAN behind the proxy
and the client's go to it,..so they never have to get to the internet to get
thier patches. I also don't get the same 100meg update being downloaded
over, and over, and over, and over for every machine,...instead it gets
downloaded only once to the WSUS Server. This saves a lot on bandwidth.

1. Flat file logging and moving log files to SQL satabase

Hi All
We are using ISA 2004 as proxy only. For performance reasons we want to log
to flat files then move these files to a SQL database periodically. My
question is what is the best way of running reports on the SQL database. As
all my arrays are configured to log to flat files the ISA reports only query
the flat files not the SQL database. Do you need to temporaily set the array
to log to the database to run a report on data already moved there? Or do
people write there own scripts to query the database - I would rather not do
this as MS have already got a nice report feature.
