ISA Clients >> Questions and issues with the Firewall Client

I was able to correct and fix the auto-detect feature when the FWC would be
installed on a client machine. However, I am some questions, as well as
issues that I was hoping to get some help on here.

1.) I am currently testing the FWC on four computers before i roll it out to
the company. 3 of the 4 FWC will appear in the sessions filter when I start
one up. ONe, for some reason is not. The only thing I can see is that the 3
that are working are running XP. The one that is not, is running 2000 pro.
Also, when i look at the client icon by the clock, I don't see a 'up arrow'
showing connection, BUT it is showing it is detecting the ISA Box.

2.) Since I am not using the FWC, on the 'Web Proxy -> Authentication ->, I
currently have 'Require all users to authenticate' due to some web filtering
software that we were testing. However, we are no longer testing the software
(that is another thread entirely...bad bad experience). I just have
'integrated checked on the list, since we run AD the ISA is in AD.

3.) Firewall rules. What would be the best solution to use when specifying
users? Should I just use groups that I have created within AD? Should I use
'all authenticated users'? What is ideal? What works best with the FWC, since
that is the way we are going to be going?

4.) Do I need to run SP2 against the machines that have the FWC installed?

Very much appreciate it.

Ok...something i've found, in hopes of fixing this.

On the computers that work and show up in the sessions filter for watching
for the FWC, when at those computers, they show that they are 'connected to
the ISA server' and the up arrow is showing.

On the ones that dont work, they say they have 'detected the isa server' but
there is no up arrow showing.

So why would they detec, but not connect?

4. Firewall client issues?

Hi all,

A client has an SBS 2003 Premium (ISA Server 2004)install and Windows XP Pro
client machines
with the Firewall client installed. All is fine except when they browse to a
site with downloadable media files i.e. Windows Media movies.

When they try to access these, they get a client firewall authentication
popup. This has all the details filled in correctly i.e.
username/password/domain and hitting OK normally gets it all working.

What could be causing this? Any help would be appreciated thanks.

As they are a new media company, a lot of their work involves media files of
one kind or another.

Thanks

6. ISA 2004 Firewall client issue!

Hello,

I have setup ISA 2004 to open port 2004,2005 and 2006 to accept traffic
from external. The ports are open!
On my workstation I am running a videoconferencing program that uses this
ports!

On the workstation I have installed the firewall client! On ISA 2004 I see
that the Application is running.

Now the strange part,

When I do a portanalyze with the application a negative response is
returned. I tells me also that I have a firewall, no NAT detected and no
Proxy detected...

Some hours later I thought lets try the analyze again... Guess what... all
was a succes and all was working!!!
The I retsarted the application en guess again... failed again ??? :-(

What is this? Sometimes it works but most times not. When it not working the
log tell me that those ports are denied! But the ports are allowed to be
open!

Anyone familiar with this?

7. Firewall client issue?

8. HELP, SNAT / VPN issues / Published sites / Firewall Client

Dear All,

We have started to experenice a lot of problems over the
last week or so and i can not explain why, can anyone
help. Here is what happened

About 3 weeks ago the Win03 / ISA2k server was rebooted
along with our main DC as VPN clients were not getting
authenicated.

Since there we have had major problems, i can not see
what is ahppening as we have made no changes to the ISA
server, but have had around 4 reboots since then which i
would class as a problem.

Firstly the SNAT / VPN clients could not access any
external http, even with the firewall client enabled and
proxy settings in IE (this has been working fine for
around 8 months!). The only work around i can see was to
set the VPN proxy settings this solved this issue, but
now they can not access some internal http and rdp
services internally. Remove the settings and the clients
connect straight away but then do not have external
access.

Second the internal clients now get an error with i try
and update the Firewall Client, it states the ISA server
is down or not responding.

Lastly we have 4 sites published externally which work
but our application server published through ISA is not
responding.

Can anyone help

Kind Regards
