ISA Clients >> Trying to install isatray on XP pro

by Len B » Wed, 31 Dec 2008 11:18:50 GMT

Unfortunately I don't know enough about ISA yet and this has come to the top
of my list so I would appreciate any help and pointers to any good articles
on the subject. I must be choosing poor keywords in my searches.

I now have Dreamweaver 2004 on WS24 (XP pro) and ISA on Win2k3 SBS. WS24 can
browse but Dreamweaver cannot connect to hosting site. The previous (dying)
Win2k machine that used to run Dreamweaver required ISAtray to get through.

When I run ISAtray on WS24, the system tray shows its icon but it is red Xed
out. Hovering on it tells that it is not configured. Right click options on
that icon include a configure but all the options are dimmed out.

I tried running isatray from a command prompt with /? /h or /help parameters
but the result was the same as with no parameters - disabled icon appears in
system tray.

Where to from here?

TIA

ISA Clients >> Trying to install isatray on XP pro

Hi,

I think you mean with "ISA Tray" the Microsoft ISA Server Firewall client?!
Which version did you install- That came with the ISA (SBS) CD or the
actual client from the Microsoft website?
Please install the actual client from the Microsoft website.
Your WS24 client must be logged on the domain and not local.

ISA Clients >> Trying to install isatray on XP pro

Thanks Jens,
I used the file ISATRAY.EXE from the SBS computer. It was located in
C:\Program Files\Microsoft ISA Server\CLIENTS\i386 (52496bytes - the
icon is a globe with a power plug in front & to its left.)
I presume this would have been put there from the CD at install time.

I do not understand the significance of the space in your first sentence.
The file name has no spaces in it so I used no spaces. Am I missing
something?

I have downloaded ISACLIENT-KB929556-ENU.EXE (618kb) from Microsoft. Is this
the correct one to install? Do you know how it differs from ISATRAY.EXE?

I assume I will need to configure it but I presume I will have right click
access or something. True?
