ISA Clients >> Error Code 10061: Connection refused

by Miha » Mon, 15 Dec 2008 21:54:46 GMT

Hi,

From time to time we are getting the following error (ISA 2006), browsing
our internal (or sometimes external) web pages

Error Code 10061: Connection refused.
Background: The server your are attempting to access has refused the
connection with the gateway. This usually results from trying to connect to
a service that is inactive on the server.

It's strange becasue user that got this error was accesing local web pages.
All services on internal IIS were running, no errors... After 15 minutes it
started working without any changes to the sistem. What could cause this
error and what to look to solve it?
Thanks
Regards,Miha

If the user is internal,...and the IIS is internal,...then they aren't
supposed to be going through the ISA to get there.

1. Error Code 10061: Connection refused

Hello Everyone.

I was messing around with ISA 2004 and everything seems to work fine.
However yesterday i came across the following problem.

Error Code 10061: Connection refused
Background: When the gateway or proxy server contacted the upstream (Web)
server, the connection was refused. This usually results from trying to
connect to a service that is inactive on the upstream server.

This problem occured when i was logged in to OWA and it just seemed to crash
or something. I then tried to log back in and i received the error.

I currently have the following config setup

SBS 2003 premium - sp1
ISA server 2004
DSL internet connection
Exchange and RWW also setup

Can somebody please help me with this issue

Although I have seen at least 50 posts about similar issues, I have not yet
seen a definitive answer for this behaviour. I have an ISA2000 install that
has been in production since inception of the ISA2000. Within the last few
weeks a couple of known sites have began consistently presenting the error
below:

One of the sites is cnn.com. Clients can access the site is they use
cnnnews.com or the ip address, but not if they use cnn.com. All of these
addresses work fine if used outside the ISA protected network.

Any thoughts? I am out of ideas.
