Platform SDK Shell >> "Static" instance of internet explorer bar

by peter-bent » Fri, 24 Dec 2004 02:09:40 GMT

Hi all.

I have created a new toolbar to microsoft internet explorer using c++
and the shell. It all works fine. However, I would like to have the
data shared among several instances of internet explorer. I.e. if my
bar accepts a string as input in one browser window, I would like that
data to be shared among all the browsers. There must be a way for all
instaces to share the same COM object?

Cheers, and merry Christmas

Peter

Internet explorer and windows explorer lock up when Internet explorer menu
bar is used, either with a mouse or via keyboard shortcut. As soon as a
menu item is selected I will get the drop down menu and then everything
ceases to function. I can do limited operations via the task manager and
can stop the iexplorer and explorer processes. However, I cannot restart
them via the taskmanager File/new task. Additionally, shutdown via the Task
Manager stops short and won't shut down completely. The only way to get
everything back is to hold the on/off button down for the full 5 seconds and
that leaves a mess in the temp directories. Help, Help, gotta have help.

8. Why is the address bar in IE7 static?

Why can't I move my browser's address bar if I want to? I don't like it at
the top, and I used to be able to have it where I wanted in IE6, now I can't.
Why won't MS let me move it, even though they still let me move the other
things at the top of the window around. MS, please resolve this issue.
