html >> Testing Server Files

On my first server debug run of a PHP script I was asked by Dreamweaver 8 if it
wanted me to send all the required files to the testing server (which is my
local Apache/htdocs folder). I clicked on YES and also checked the box at the
base of the window ensuring it would remember my selection and do this for all
such files that would be tested and needed external files to run properly.

This worked fine... the first time.

Upon other subsequent tests the testing server did not put the necessary files
onto the testing server.

I've tried to look for the setting responsible for that first dialog box to
see if there has been a change in my settings, however, I can't seem to find
anything.

Does anyone know why DW8 no longer puts such needed files onto my testing
server?

Does anyone know where I can find that initial dialog box's settings?

Thanks for any help,

Ryan

I ended up finding the settings (Edit - Preferences - Site - Dependent Files).

My next question is why does DW8 not include files that are called with $_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT'] ?

Thanks,

Ryan

2. Testing Server File Protection Errors

Using a testing server (Apache 2, Entropy PHP, OS X 10.5) that's on my local
LAN, accessible via FTP, etc. When I create a new page on my development box,
then export it to the testing server (for testing), the file moves, but when I
try to use live mode to check operation of the page, I get protection errors.
If I go to the testing server and set preferences to read/write for everybody,
all is well until I add another page for testing. Really an major
inconvenience - makes testing worthless. Any ideas?

4. Testing server, remote server issue - file update

Hello,
Thanks for taking a look at my question.
I'm building an dynamic site using ASP, and have run into a problem when I
preview in browser using a testing server.
I'm using IIS on my PC as the testing server. The remote info is set to FTP
and pointed to the hosting company's server, so once tested I can put the file
there.
When I edit the local css file, the change shows in DW design view, but not
when I preview the page on the testing server. If I put the file, it updates on
the remote server, but not the testing server.
Is there a way to get the css file on the testing server to update when I edit
the local css file, so I can see the change when I preview in browser?

 Thanks,
 Tim

6. css file not updating on testing server

I have a site set up to be edited locally then saved onto a testing server. I
noticed my html file gets updated when I make changes and preview, but the CSS
file that is being associated with the html file does not. I tried saving the
css file manually to the testing server with the 'save to remote server'
function. but I get an error saying file is locked and cannot be replaced. What
do I need to do here?

8. dependent files not uploading to testing server

I thought when you work on a file in local mode and you add a picture (or any
dependent element) to that file then when you save DW will upload it to the
testing server for you, so you son't have to do it manually. Mine isn't doing
that. Yes, I have the site defined in DW. Any ideas on what I am doing wrong?
