IIS Server Security >> Error Message - Using Windows XP & Internet Explorer

by Jim Linder » Fri, 21 May 2004 11:20:17 GMT

I am getting error message that says

Error Loading winupd.dll

and

Error Loading wincore.dll

I was having problems with crap that downloaded itself
onto my PC in the Windows\SYSTEM or Windows\SYSTEM32
folders and I may have deleted something essential.

Now that I have loaded all the Windows XP updates, I
still cannot get rid of these error messages when clicking
on Internet explorer and Outlook. They still work, I
just have to click on error messages to get rid of them.

Maybe I have some sort of spyware trying to run and the
files they need have been deleted.

Could anyone offer me advice on how to fix this.

Thanks!

1. Error message on Internet Explorer--using xp

I have a Compaq Presario s4000j Athlon with XP installed,
switched to
a new s5000j with xp.
I am connected via DSL.
Our office has 5 computers connected in a network and 3
independant lines. There doesn't seem to be any problems
with the machines on the network. There are also two
laptops that are connected to the independant lines with
no problems. (A laptop user with xp says he has on
ocassion got the same message, but if he indicates that he
doesn't want to send the error message, he can continue
with his project, ----I can't.)I end up back at the Desk
top.

My computer is connected on an independant line. About
three or four times a day,(sometimes within 15 to 20
minutes) I will have an error message from Internet
Explorer that it has a problem and asks if I want to send
a report. Of course if I send or decline, the browser will
close and all work, that I was working on will be lost.

I have switched lines and also have a new machine and it
still
happens.

Any Ideas

I am getting the message "The Application failed to initialize because the

Any suggestions?

5. Windows Explorer Status Bar & Internet Explorer Error Messages

Windows Explorer

The status bar on windows explorer will not stay in place. I have changed it in the folder options
to do and apply to all folders. I close and reopen and the status bar is gone again. I even hit
the CTRL key when closing a window to keep the settings that again it disappears.

when I set the status bar to display, it shows but the minute I change directories, the bar
disappears again until I reconfigure it again manually.

This is really starting to bother me as I now do editing that requires that bar and I cannot get it
to stay.

If anyone out there has any knowledge as to the root cause of the problem and a sure fire cure I
would love to hear it.

MS Internet Explorer Version 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519

I keep getting messages stating that iexplorer crashes when it is not even being used. Every 30
minutes or so this message pops up and is the dominent window until I close it. Everything works
fine except for this message. It simply says that windows explorer has encountered a problem and
needs to be closed. If anyone has a cure for that problem as well I would love to hear that!
