IIS Server Security >> unable to enroll Certificate server

by Bruce » Fri, 14 Nov 2003 02:34:59 GMT

We have a Windows 2003 Certificate server that we are
trying to get certificates from a VPN client (Using Ciscos
concentrator)

The client connects from outside, then requests to enroll
to get a certificate.

We receive an error unable to Enroll

Is there a setting that I can enable to allow the client
to receive a certificate?

1. Unable to create SSL Web Server certificate

Hi,

I'm unable to create a new SSL certificate on my Win2003 Std. Edition
webserver. Following KB299525 I should be able to select Web Server for the
type of certificate but I can only select User. I removed the CA server and
reinstalled everything, but nothing changes. Ther User type certificate
doesn't work for the webserver pages.

How to modify the CA server to create Web Server certificates?

3. New SSL Certificate is invalid after uninstalling Certificate Server

Hello,

I was in the process of setting up an SSL web site on IIS 6.0 on
Windows 2003 Server. I mistakenly installed Certificate Services
thinking it was needed. I removed it but now when I try to install
the valid certificate from Thawte it shows up invalid because it lists
the issuer of the certificate as the name I entered when I installed
Certificate Server on the machine by mistake. Has anyone out there
had this problem?

5. windows certificate server - trusting their certificate

I have installed windows certificate server on a Windows 2000 advanced
server. I have issued SSL certificates from the certificate server and have
them successufully installed into an IIS website. This has been done to
Developement systems. When I browse to the site I can communicate over a
SSL connection as expected. The problem is that the Windows desktop
operating system does not trust my certificate server. How do I properly
configure the desktop testers to trust my certificate server. The end goal
is avoid my testers from having to click "Yes" past the security alert box
that says the certificate has been issued by a company you have chosen not
to trust.

Thanks for your help.

7. certificate server only issue certificate valid for 1 year

Dear all,

I have a win 2k server with certificate service installed.
However, I want to use the service to issue a certificate to 1 of my web
server, such that the web server can run on SSL mode.
But I found that the certificate created by the certificate service only
valid for 1 year
Anyone know how can I setup the service, such that I can control the
validity of the certificate ?

Thanks
