I am trying to silently print a word document using the Microsoft Office
Image Writer to a TIFF file. I can do this just fine so far, except that
every time i print with this driver it opens the TIFF file upon completion.
Is this normal? And if so, is there any way to stop it from happing? I've
tried it on several computers in my office and all produce the same result
(though with various image viewers/editors depending on the computer).

try changing the following registry value (adjusting the Office version
number as required) to 0

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\MODI\MDI writer\OpenInMODI

I could have sworn there used to be a checkbox for this in the driver
preferences dialog box, but maybe not.

Now remembered where the option is in the UI - when the dialog box for the
file name comes up, there's a check box at the bottom.

I hope this is the correct forum ... if not please advice me.

I have made a Java program that can copy an annotation (textbox) from a
TIFF file, created with Microsoft Office Document Imaging, to another
TIFF file. I copy fields 37680 and 37686, which works great.

BUT, what we really would like to do is to create the annotation from
scratch and add it to the TIFF files. We need to read the text from a
database and add it to specific TIFF files. I do not know how the
fields 37680 and 37686 are build up and I guess it would take some time
to find out.

Have anyone done anything like the above?

8. MODI v12 can't open a .tif file that v11 can open without difficulty 

When attempting to open a .tif file with MODI 12.0.4518.1014 I get the error 
"the selected file is not a valid microsoft office document imaging file". 
Opening this file on any machine with MODI 11.something works fine.  Is 
there a patch/fix/workaround for this?
