4. i am trying to set up outlook 2000 for the first time - Microsoft Office Outlook
5. Windows Installer starts each time that a new user starts Office 2
After installing Office 2K with Run All From My computer, as a local admin, each new user is prompted for installation media (Data1.msi) when they launch MSWord or Excel, etc. Microsoft's suggested workarounds (KB 312596 ) are not viable in our environment - they only help when an account/profile can be identified up front, or if we force the user to take some action. The first is not feasible, the latter is highly undesirable. We don't know in advance who the user will be in most cases (when we do, we can create their account in advance and manually fix it - but what a pain in the *). More importanly, we have accounts created on the fly when a certain type of user logs in the first time. They are assigned to local admin group. But each new account is still prompted as in this article. We have 1,000s of users and this is a huge headache for us! Is this a bug or we all just missing something? baileyK9 ;-)
6. I am trying to show names in my address book in last name first or - Microsoft Office Outlook
7. For the 2nd time I am not using BCM - reasons explained (long)
First installed BCM as part of Office SB, looked at it but really never made the plunge into it and it fell by the way side. Then I bought a new computer and re-installed BCM. Set up some accounts and Business Contacts and realized Business Contacts were separate from regular contacts because they had to be in 2 separate folders. I thought that was weird and it felt awkward to have two contact folders: business contacts and sales reps, vendors, support, and friends/family in another. Shortly thereafter we upgraded to Small Business Server 2003, and we got busy with the implemenation of that. The real killer application is wireless sync with Exchange and a Smartphone. Wow, your inbox, calender and contacts up to date on your phone. Wow. Then, I realized that my Business Contact never made it over to Contacts on the Smartphone. Duh! It seems like BCM could be practical tool for a pure sales organization. But I am thinking that if a company needs to decided between BCM and wireles sync, they will chose the latter. Am I missing something here?
