bcm >> archive BCM items

by Ed Marmon » Fri, 16 Feb 2007 23:03:46 GMT

i remember in the beta i tried to archive some bcm items and i was in the
dialog and set it, but then notheing vere happened. then someone told me
that while the choice is there, archiving is really for outlook items, and
bcm items are not archivable, even though the option to specify archiving
settings seems to be still there for BCM folders.

is this still true? if yes, is there a workaround? and if yes, why allow
archiving for outlook but not bcm? if no, how do i do it?

thanks, and sorry for te ineptitude here

Thanks for reporting this. Outlook's archive functionality is not supported for BCM folders.

1. Inserting Item from Archive/Sent Items "To" Column missing in item

When creating a new email, and inserting an "item" (old email) I noticed when
I grab the item from my archive/sent folders I am not seeing the "TO" column
in the Sent Folders. I am unable to customize this fiew.

Steps to Duplicate
Open New Message to Create Email
Go to Insert/Item..Insert Item Email pop up window displays
Go to Archive Folder/Sent Items
Notice the emails it displays has the "From, Subject,Recieved" columns
displayed, but doesn't have the "To" comlumn displayed. I tried to right
click on this area to "customize" view, but didn't have that option.

Hoping someone can tell me how I can fix this setting.

I need to have the To column on this view.

3. Auto-Archive and access to archived items

Hello, I'm sure this must be a basic question, but I wan to be clear
about it. I have a frequent need to search for old emails (like
perhaps years old), if I have auto-archive setup properly, will I
still be able to access these old emails, in a seamless way? In other
words, without needing to manually open up the archive pst.

5. Recurring items in calendar do not archive when I MANUALLY archive

Hello folks,
I was reading about the aging standards for Auto-Archiving and it does mention that recurring calendar items do not get archived.
I have noticed that manual archival doesn't get them out of my current calendar either.
Using Windows XP Pro with Outlook 2003 and obviously Exchange Server as well.
Is this an issue or is this a feature?
I initially thought that it would archive recurring items that were within the time frame for my archive ie: 3 months. I figured that it would only leave those that had continuing recurrences outside of the archival dates but it doesn't get any recurring items.
Thanks,
Harry
