Unlike BCM 2007, earlier versions would not automatically attach the
database files to the BCM sql server instance. So you will need to
attach them yourself and then the databases will show up in BCM. If
you don't know how to attach databases, the steps have been explained
before in this newsgroup.

2. BCM data file doing strange things

One problem I can't solve since I have installed BCM in Outlook 2003.
Was hoping someone has run across this before. BCM works fine, but
since it is installed, I now have several extra task folders and
calendar folders that are VERY OLD and that have been archived and I
do not use any longer that are showing up in My Tasks and My Calendars
view. Outlook will not allow me to right click on these and "Remove
from My Tasks" etc. To remove these tasks, I have to go to the
Windows control Panel/Email/Data Files, and remove the BCM data file.
This restores Outlook to my original view. Of course I then have to
readd the BCM data file when I want to use BCM. My question is how I
can have BCM run all the time without having to stare at the annoying
OLD calendar and task folders in My Tasks and in My Calendars.
Anyone?????

4. Can I share BCM V2 Database on 2003 by using BCM Data Admin Tool

I created a BCM database in my local machine and I would like to move it to
the server so other machines on the network can have access to it as well. I
used osql -E -S command to stop the BCM database from my machine and moved it
to the server, and I re-attached BCM database from the server.

EXEC sp_attach_db @dbname = N'STS_Config', @filename1 =
N'C:\new_database_location\STS_Config.mdf', @filename2 =
N'C:\new_database_location\STS_Config_log.ldf'

Can I have other machine attach to the Database in the server the same way?
Since I am the owner, I still have to give permission to user to access it.
But I would rather perfer to have Admin on the server have the total control
of DB. It seems MS2007 BCM Data Admin Tool is the way to go, but does it work
on the database created by BCM V2 on MS2003?

I installed the BCM Data Admin Tool + SQL 2005 Express, when I launch the
Admin Tool it did not find the BCM Instance, is there a special way to
configure that?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

5. Import Data from 2003 BCM to 2007 BCM (on Windows 7)

6. Need to migrate BCM 2003 data into BCM 2007

When I try to use the .bcm file to import old data into BCM 2007, I get an
error message about fields not matching. The alternative would be to use
.csv export, but that moves only contacts and accounts, but not the rest of
the data (email tracking etc.) and this is unacceptable for our clients. We
are considering upgrade to BCM 2007 to be able to use SQL back end and
therefore IT department having more control over backups and data. Currently
this is poorly handled by the user. Plus, when that user is not at the
office, nobody can access the shared database. Using a separate back end
somewhere on the server would solve our problem, but it is not going to work
unless we can move all of the previous data from BCM 2003 into BCM 2007.

Did anyone have any experience with this?

Thank you in advance for the help.

8. Data file mailbox John Doe was not closed properly

Is there a setting within Outlook 2003 that will allow me to turn off
Outlook "Fixing" these PST files. Our COO is telling me that he gets this
error message fairly often and wants it to go away. Granted, the PST files
are pretty big (about 1.5 gb), I would prefer to tell Outlook when to check
their integrity.

As to why they are so big, all of our VP's would be lost without the ability
to view email as far back as the beginning of time of they had it their way.
It is how they maintain their accountability. I am having a heck of a time
explaining to them why they should pursue other avenues but they all feel
like email servers should be able to handle email boxes of any size. If any
of you have ideas or pointers to documents to help explain why email
management is a good thing, please be sure to pass that along.
