Flight Simulation Games >> Windows and Joysticks

Hi folks,

I'm still using CH and Saitek's (non USB) joysticks and I want to upgrade my
machine to P4. Last year some messages mentioned that Windows XP won't work
with
old joysticks and I don't know whether XP has fixed this problem.
So, which Windows would you recommend, Win Me or 2000 or ?

Many thanks.

Alex

The problem is likely that the programming utilities won't run under XP,
the stick/throttle will work fine assuming you have a joystick port to
plug them into.

You could always dual boot win98 for programming purposes, ugly but it
works.

1. game ports in windows 2000, joystick not connected

this question has been asked before, it seems...

i have a system running windows 2000 pro with service pack 4
installed. the conexant pci input device (game port) is installed
properly, however when a joystick is plugged into the game port, the
status in the gaming options applet still shows as "not connected".

i have tried several other sound cards, isa gameport cards, etc, all
with the same problem. i did read that this was addressed as a problem
with gameenum.sys in sp2, but i still have the same problems.

the joystick is a known working joystick, it works just fine under
win98 on other machines, and did on this one until the upgrade to
windows 2000 pro. it's just a generic radioshack flight yoke with
throttle and pov.

in the device manager, the conexant pci input device shows a memory
range of DE000000-DE000FFF, and nothing else. the standard game ports
that i had installed previously shows an io range of 0200-0207.

i've done the whole uninstall/reinstall drivers song and dance, to no
avail.

has anyone found a solution to this problem?

thanks,
erick

3. Getting My Analog Joystick to Work on Windows XP

I have Win 98 and XP but I cannot get my joystick to work
on Windows XP.

Here is what I have tried so far:

1. Added a joystick (analog) and configured it, and all
the buttons worked and it scrolled around the entire
calibration box.

2. I then added new hard ware and configured it to DMA
0001 instead of 0000.

Still nothing

3. I reloaded the joystick.cpl file, and that failed also.

Any clues on how to get my analog joystick to work?

Its a PC Raider, 2 button, 2 axis joystick.

Any help would be appreciated!

thanks!

You got it to run? Damn, my copy won't. I have fond memories of that game,
which would probably look crappy these days compared to newer releases.
