Flight Simulation Games >> FS2004 and garbled text

by GLeger » Sat, 02 Aug 2003 08:31:26 GMT

FS2004 is ok for me in the game itself, but when reading the text part, it
is all garbled. I'm wondering if this is the problems that have been
reported for ATI cards?

I have:

P4 3.0Ghz
Asus P4C800
1Gb memory
ATI 9800 pro w/catalyst 3.6 suite
Audigy 2

Same problem here with Radeon 9500 Pro- is someone going to fix it in the
future? Like ATI or Microsoft?

That's obviously supposed to read "text," not test.

Allot of the text in the game is garbled and cannot be seen. For instance,
the numbers showing the elapsed time
cannot be read, it shows up as shaded blocks. I can tell that they are
changing because they are moving, but
the numbers themselves cannot be seen. Other areas of the game has the same
problem. From the opening screen there is a lot of blurred graphics. It's
hard to explain. The menu's are alright, completely legible and ok. But
other area's of text aren't ok.

Wondering if others are having the same problems.

Running:

Asus P4C800 Deluxe
1Gb ram
ATI 9800 PRO w/ 3.10 drivers
SB Audigy 2.0

6. Garbled graphics in Vista pre installed games

I'm just reproducing an issue that user Peachy brought forth some months ago
in this NG. All games in Vista are displaying some corrupt textures, but
work just fine apart from the visual defects. The wood texture appears
corrupt in Chess Titans, The leaf background in all card games does it too.
In Mahjong tiles, the start screen is showing half corrupt, half ok, and the
fishbone-knitting background also shows up problematically. Lastly, In
Minesweeper, the icons for the clock and mine/flower in the lower pane, as
well as the icons of the mines/flowers in the playing field, also show up
corrupted. Has anyone else encountered those problems? And does any solution
exist? I tried all versions of drivers for my ATi x1300 gpu...and the
microsoft default ones, to no effect.

Also, don't know if that's a related problem or not, when in the picture
slideshow in Vista, the text in menus and on-screen (like Exit, Themes etc)
shows up corrupted as well and illegible.

My rig is a brand new laptop from Acer, and it came with those problems
pre-installed :P

8. garbled and tiled screen

hello all my name is Devon Corrias and cant figure out what the problem is.
Just bought Railroad Tycoon 3 and it loaded up fine. Well after you leave
the main menu and go to like tutorial or new game after a few seconds of
gameplay the screen will just go crazy. It looks like a brick wall with tile
patterns and different colors on it, but its the entire screen and I cant
exit or anything my only option is to reboot the computer. Here is my
computer info: OS is XP, Vendor is Intel, Model is Pentium 4, CPU speed is
1991 MHz, total memory is 1023 megs, free memory is 742 megs, MMX=yes,
SSE=yes, SSE2=yes, 3DNow=no, Display Adapter is NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4400, the
sound device is C-Media wave device. If anyone could help it would be great.
Just wanted to add that this problem happens sometime when the screen is at
idle. It actually happened when I was reformating my computer, right after
the format reboot, when the light blue microsoft screen appears to activate
it. Thank you.
