Flight Simulation Games >> Longbow 2 joystick does not work

by john » Wed, 12 May 2004 03:15:48 GMT

I'll start with my setup.

P4 1.8Ghz, 256MB, Radeon 9600XT, Windows ME, DX9

I played LB2 years ago on my old computer and want to play it again on
this newer one. I am able to do a base install and run the game even
before patching. It runs great in software mode with no problems, except
lack of joystick support. I installed the 2.09 patch and the game still
ran fine.

As for graphics I tried the DDU update and got the game running in D3D
fine. I tried every trick to get glide to work with zero luck. But since
D3D works I don't see a reason to use glide. Is there?

So my problem is that my joystick does not work in the game. It is a
Saitek X45. It is the only game device plugged into the computer. I read
something about possible USB conflicts so I tested that. The X45 is USB.
So is my keyboard and one mouse. To test I plugged in a PS2 keyboard and
mouse and my old Sidewinder (game port) stick. Again the game ran fine
but no joystick.

Both joysticks work fine in Windows and other games. I can fly the
chopper with the keyboard but I refuse to play the game that way. So
what is the secret to getting the game to see my joystick? What am I
missing here?

I think I put all details here. Let me know what else you need to know.

Yes! With Glide enabled you can run with smoke effects on
without experince artifacts. Also if get Zeckensack's glide
wrapper running you can run LB2 in 1280x960 resolution and with
fill FSAA and AF it's sweet!

Sorry, but I have no clue why your joysticks fail in LB2?

Go to Game controllers under Control panel. CLick the advanced buton and
select the Saitek stick in the drop down box - that may help.

I've recently installed Windows Vista and when I try to play some of my

Hi All,
Just took this one out of mothballs and I have it running but I have the
strangest problem, well at least I think it is. I have a MicroSoft

I've tried everything I can think of to no avail. Anybody else ever have
this problem and what did you do?
Thanks and Check Six.
