I used a Logitech Wingman Attack2 stick with IL2 for about 6 months
with no problems, until the joystick fell apart.

I used a Logitech Wingman Extreme with IL-2 and Flanker. I've had the joystick
for about 6 months and it is starting to fall apart. POS joystick.

It works and calibrates fine in windows...just not in the games.

I can assign the buttons but both axis do not work...as well...the
handle twists in each direction and that does not register either...I
tried the joystick in a racing game and it worked fine..

Say no more. How they managed to even for a moment (several years ago)
gain the reputation for decent low-end joysticks I'll never
understand. That stick was shoddy as a house-of cards in a blizzard.
Then the same thing happened with their FF wheel, only a little bit
later. Shoddy product, great reviews.

Maybe a silly question here but I'll ask anyway. Did you actually go
into the games' controller setup screen and set up/map your stick
there to the various axis? If not you will experience what you're
talking about. If you're not sure how to do this just consult the
manual (p.23). Good luck and hope it helps.

I have an old Microsoft SideWinder 3D Pro coupled to a set of analog pedals
by CH Products... They both run really great with the ubisoft games.

From my perspective, I feel the ubisoft games are about the best things out
there right now.

I had an issue like that after installing SP3 on my Win2k -
and the people at Saitek were very nice about it, so nice that
I had to drag it out of them that it was simply a MS problem.
Re-install Win2k, SP2 ONLY, and the stick's as good as new!
And I had a MS Sidewinder 3D Pro as well, but had to replace it
after my new Soundblaster Live! (that I bought to keep the sound
from slowing down CFS2) refused to work with it...
Maybe some day we'll see a Linux rehash of Red Baron?
