Hello.

I run Linux on an Acer TM C110 & kernel 2.4.26. Unfortunately,
when I use a self-compiled kernel, I can no longer switch between CRT
and LCD using the hotkey. With some other kernel (e.g., the knoppix
distribution, it is working).

Do you know what kernel option could affect this?

Thanks,
Sebastian

Hi all, i'm new here, but are 2 years that i use a Gentoo GNU/Linux
system.. I'm working with the 2.6.5, 2.6.6-mm5 and the 2.4.25... I have
a problem with the device specified un subject... The GNU/Linux system
doesn't see it at all.. On Win it says is plugged through the LPC
interface of my i845.. Acer refuses to tell me the exact model of the
Winbond device, so, even if they provide specification, i couldn't try
to write a device driver becouse i don't know the right model...

Is there someone that has some more information about it?
Thanks for the attention...

4. Acer TM 8004LMi: kernel problem?

I have an Acer TravelMate 8004LMi notebook, equipped with:
- Intel Pentium M 1.7GHz
- Ram 512MB
- ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9700 with 128MB VRAM
- HDD 80GB

I tried installing:
1) *UBUNTU*: just after having displayed splash, the monitor freezes,
mouse works but can't do anything
2) *LINUX MINT*: the same as 1)
3) *DEBIAN ETCH*: _it works_ but too old for some new software (i.e.
KeePassX)
4) *OPENSUSE 11.0*: it works but I enabled desktop effects and the
monitor became white with a lonely mouse
5) *FEDORA 9*: the same as 1) and 2)
6) *DEBIAN LENNY*: the same as 1,2, 5.

What can I install?!?! Why does this strange thing happen? May be a
new-kernel problem?

Thank you

Go to your computer manufacture to see if they have a way to recreate
the recovery partition. IBM and Compaq allow such recovery on their
machines.
