portable >> ..I-Opener Question ???

by netrunner » Wed, 31 May 2006 12:03:21 GMT

Hi ..probably the wrong group but, if anyone's familiar with the old
I-Opener net applliance, I really need help. My 88 year old dad's I-opener
finally bit the dust. I got him another I-opener from ebay (non-modified)
..but now while trying to switch I-Openers for him ..Earthlink tech support
tells me that once the first user's ID & password are put into an I-opener
..they cannot be changed?

Obviously I need to put my dad's current ID & PW info into his new ("newer")
I-opener unit. I really have a hard time believing that you can't change
these simple parameters once put in the first time? Can anyone help me to
help him ..even if it means shooting me over to some other newsgroup.
Thanks in advance, Ray

well I am doing (and indeed I'd started last night but didn't spot the
default cpu was set to Pentium Pro! so the build aborted on my trusty
old K6-II -500)

In the mean time, note that as a topic 'wine kernel modules' has a long,
chequered (and so far abortive) history - see google for 4 or 5 WWN
posts over the last 5 or so years

7. Konsole question and FTP app question

Two questions, but since I've been asking so many questions lately, I
thought I'd put a couple into one message. =)

1. I'm using Konsole for SSH. In Windows I used to use Putty, and it
had a setting for sending a null signal to the server every X seconds
in order to keep the connection alive. Otherwise, my connection to the
remote server I connect to 8 hours a day at work constantly resets.
The closest setting I could find is in "Configure Konsole" something
called "Seconds to detect silence." I tried 5 seconds and 3600 seconds,
but it still constantly disconnects in Kinsole. Am I missing something?

2. Also in Windows I used WS-FTP Pro. gFTP used to be exactly like it,
but now WS-FTP has tabbed local and remote servers so one can connect
to multiple servers and keep them open, switching back and forth as
needed.
Is there any program for Linux like that?
Thanks for any suggestions!
Liam
