I am recovering from a shutdown of the message database due to reaching the 16GB limit. I have done the recovery steps to temporarily increase the store limits by an additional 1GB. All Exchange services seem to be starting properly. However no incoming mail is being processed to the stores. I ran into the limit on the public store, but both stores are no longer receiving any external email. The stores check out okay with ESEUTIL. I have been receiving mail via the POP3 connector and the connector seems to be working okay is getting the mail, but it is never getting to the stores.
What are the additional steps that I need to do to recover from the automatic shutdown of the "message database"?

Did you do an offline defrag of the databases?

Yes, an offline defrag and an integrity check on both the private and public. Events from the automatic defrag now show that both stores have memory available.

Check out the size of the database.
(Priv1.edb+Priv1.stm) should be less than 16GB
(Pub1.edb+Pub1.stm) should be less than 16GB
Even after u run Offline Defrag, if there is not much white space to free up
on the database you will reach these limits quickly and you will end up with
the same problem.

ALL my incoming mail just go into my accounts "inbox" or quickviews "All

You need to *add* domain2.co.uk as an additional SMTP email address type
in the Recipient Policies, and make it primary.
The key trick is that the POP3 connector delivers mail to Exchange using
SMTP, and each user therefore needs to have a domain1.co.uk address
associated with their account, though it doesn't need to be primary.

5. Outlook Express and disappearing mail
When I receive new mail, the inbox shows 1 new item.
when I click on the inbox to view the new item it
disappears. I've tried disabling the download and email
virus scan options and all the *.dbx files are in place
and seem fine. I've also renamed the file.dbx file so a
new one was created.
Any other suggestions?

Hi there, recently i have had a company swear black and blue that they
replied to my email by hitting reply so there was no reason why i wouldn't
have received their reply - check my junk mail. I don't have a junk main
box, just and inbox so it's a bit of a mystery. I thought the error must be
theirs.
But .... today i have been working on my computer and twice have heard the
sound for incoming mail go but when i look at my inbox in Windows Mail,
there's nothing new - weird????
The lady at the above company told me that she had heard of issues where
there is an automatic filter and that's how my mail might have been deleted
without me even having done anything.
Is this true, is there any way incoming mail gets deleted without fully
landing in the inbox? As i am a self employed photographer and work from
home and I depend on email enquiries for my business this is an important
issue for me, and if mail has been automatically deleted is there any way i
can get it back??
All replies and especially solutions gratefully received.
Kind regards
Marie-Claire
