transport >> You do not have permission to send ... #5.7.1 Error

Hi Jim,

The problem may not be with your Exchange Server. Here are a few things to
try to narrow the problem down.
The first is to do a telnet to the other mail Server from your Exchange
Server and attempt to drop off apiece of mail to that external recipient. A
lot of times this will give you a better message as to why the mail is being
refused. In the mail from command use the internal user address and in the
rcpt to command use the external recipient address. For your second problem
do the messages all have the same message ID? If they do it may be a problem
with your Server but more troubleshooting needs to be done on the receiving
Server.

Hope this helps,

1. "You do not have permission to send on behalf" - Except user has "Send As" permission

We are running Exchange 2003 SP3 and have a number of mailboxes that
are accessed by multiple people. We create a "Security Group -
Universal" of everyone that needs access to one of these mailboxes and
then give that group "Full Control" in the Security tab for that
mailbox.

We have one mailbox that when certain members of the security group
try to create a new message "From" the mailbox in question, they
receive the message stating ""you do not have permission to send on
behalf". I double checked and that security group does have "Send As"
permissions. Some members of the group are able to successfully
create new messages "From" that mailbox.

We also tried to add just one of the users that was unable to send and
give them "Send As" permission, but that didn't fix it.

Any ideas what we can try to do to fix it?

3. Error message: You do not have permission to send to this recipient

I have user that receives this message each time she tries to update a
meeting on her calendar in Outlook.

The full error message is:

You do not have permission to send to this recipient. For assistance,

I recently moved the user mailboxes from Exchnage server and
organization to another. This message only occurs when the user is
trying to update appointments created before the migration. She is
able to create and update any new appointments that have been made
since the migration.

Any thoughts on what may be causing this? She is sending these updates
to an internal user and no one external.

5. You do not have permission to send to this recipient - getting this error

7. You do not have permission to send to this recipient NO 5.7.1 error

Here's what I think was happening...

The user had turned on the FROM box in the email editor and was
putting her contact info in it. She's been doing this for a long
time, but until last week they were using POP3 mail. I guess the POP
server didn't care, but it looks like Exchange does. She also
mentioned that (DUHHHH!!!!) that her emails went through when she
DIDN'T put anything in that box, of course she didn't mention that
until I brought it up. DEU's can be so difficult!!!
