transport >> We can't send outgoing mail either

by Garner Albright » Wed, 10 Sep 2003 06:46:28 GMT

Our incoming mail is working fine. But the outgoing is
just sitting in the queues. If I stop and start the SMTP
Virtual Server the messages will go out and be delivered.
But if I don't restart the service the messages just sit
there. On last Friday our e-mail services stopped because
the hard drive where Exchange is was full (16kb of free
space LOL). Since then we made free space (24.7GB of free
space now). But the outgoing mail won't go out unless I
restart the SMTP service.
Anyone seen this before??? It's very strange. Like I
said it sends the messages if the service is restarted,
but then every new message that wasn't in the queue on
restart is stuck in queue until I restart the SMTP service
again.
Thanks very much in advance for anyone who can give me
some info to get this going.
If you can respond to my e-mail address (minus
the "nospam") would be great. Since the incoming mail is
working fine ;)

1. Can't send outgoing mails from exchange 2000

I just change from an ISP mail server to serve mail froma my own
organization. I can send and receive email inside my domain and I can receive
from any other domain. The problem is I can't sent to any one outside my
domain. In the SMTP queue you can see the message stuck with the message:
"Unable to bind to the destination server in DNS".
I have a Domain Controller that is a DNS server, an Exchange Server that is
a Domain Controller and DNS server and an ISA Server 2000.

Can somebody help me?

Thanks,

Hello everybody,
I have a problem with outgoing mail. I have stopped the Default SMTP
Virtual Server and, when I have restarted it, in the queue manager I
have seen a lot SMTP connector sending mails. These mails were sent by
clients some weeks ago. What happends? How can I solve this problem?

Thank You

7. Exchange outgoing email misconfiguration -- can't send email

We are a very small office and have Exchange Server 5.5 set up locally as 'mydomain.com'. The person who set up the server has long since left and we have the following problem:

Our web site (also 'mydomain.com') is hosted commercially and we would like to use the host's service for our email; in fact we collect our email from them already.

When we use Outlook our Exchange server sends email directly to recipients which is undesirable as our local IPs don't resolve properly and email gets returned by AOL etc (we have DSL with dynamic IPs and look like spammers to them).

We tried to change the Exchange settings, but now *all* outgoing email ends up in our hosted email account as ' XXXX@XXXXX.COM @mydomain.com'.

We would very much like to continue to use Outlook as our address books and office email are based on the Exchange server. Right now we use Outlook Express to send and receive email via our hosted account.
