transport >> Adding Connector

I create a SMTP connector on my Windows 2000 Server. The
purpose of this SMTP connector, is that I want to send my
emails thru my ISP SMTP server.

In Exchange system Manager, where my queues are I see:
abc.com(local delivery)
isp connector(SMTP Connector - Remote delivery)

All my email are still going thru abc.com(local delivery)
instead of my isp connector. How do I change this? I
want all my email to go thru my isp connector

Thanks.

I am assuming you are referring to all external mail. On the address space
of the SMTP connector did you use an asterisk * ?

The only mail in the local delivery queue should be local mail or mail
coming in from the internet to your local domain.

The mail to the internet should all go out through the connector. For
example--I set my SMTP connector to a smarthost and then I set the delivery
options schedule to "never run" (just so I could see it stop in the right
queue) when I send to XXXX@XXXXX.COM the mail creates a queue for my SMTP
connector for remote delivery. To see local delivery queue, I froze the
queue (one of the options when you right click it) then I sent mail to
myself--this mail then went into the local delivery queue. Then I did a
telnet into my server and also sent a mail to myself--just like external
mail from the internet. Since the queue was still frozen I saw that message
show up in local delivery as well.

All of this to say that Exchange will deliver all local domain mail through
the local queue whether its internal or mail to your domain from the
internet. All mail from your domain to the internet will go through the
remote delivery queue.

Yes I'm referring to all external mail. And yes I did
put an asterisk for the addrees space. Is there a way
that I can change my default queue to isp connector(SMTP
Connector - Remote delivery) instead of abc.com(local
delivery)?

Thanks.

We have a Lotus Domino environment version 5.0.11 with an Exchange

I receive the external message, but if a want to reply to the sender i

4. Routing group connector needs at least one smtp vsi - how do I add

Hello,

This is driving me mad !

I have just setup 5 servers at 5 sites, all in one domain, all running
windows 2003 server and exchange 2003, connected by a lan to lan VPN

Sites 1 to 4 are up and running perfectly, users are happy and smiling :)

Site 5 - Windows and Exchange installed and configured, the last step is to
add the routing group connectors for this site to the other 4.

I have created a new routing group for site 5, BUT when I try to add a new
routing group connector I get a message that says "YOU MUST HAVE AT LEAST ONE
SMTP VSI IN A ROUTING GROUP TO CREATE A ROUTING GROUP CONNECTOR".

I get the same message if I try to add a SMTP connector in the routing
group. I know I saw this message when I setup the 4th server, but I simply
created it from one of the other sites, but it won't let me do this this time.

I'm sure it something obvious (it usually is with me !) but I can't see it

Can anyone help ?

Thank you

6. adding an SMTP Connector

Configuration
Clustered backend servers
Added front-end server has been running OWA fine
Decided to add SMTP connector to front-end.

Add SMTP connector and set front-end box as bridgehead.
front-end has a mailbox store running to support SMTP.

Problem is the back-end boxes now just queue mail.
A queue is never created to the front-end box and the
front-end box does not create queues for the internet.

I added a user mailbox to the front-end for testing and
can route mail to this server without a problem.

What else can I check? ideas?

Thanks

8. Adding SMTP connector stops mail

Hi

I have just added SMTP connectors to several of our sites to forward
outbound external mail through a smarthost for virus scanning.
These sites work perfectly however the other sites that do not have the SMTP
connector (just Routing Group connectors) now cannot send external mail.

Do I need to add an SMTP connector to every site, even if they do not need
the smart host?
Should the cost on the '*' Address Space be lower or higher than my site to
site Routing Group connector costs?

Many thanks
