print_fax >> Print Serv Fail Err Printing from Trusted Sites

by A Church » Wed, 17 Sep 2003 10:34:39 GMT

Help please with ongoing possible print configuration
issue. Print server returns a short " print server
failed" error message but only when printing from secure
internet sites. This tends to jam the print server and
prevent other PC's from printing until cleared.

Background - OS = MS Windows XP home + XP service pack 1a
+ all MS recommended updates. XP Internet firewall is
enabled. Sites https addresses have been added to trusted
sites settings. Print processor is WinPrint, Default data
type is RAW. Have tested spool settings with no joy.

This computer is on a LAN with one network drive
perminantly mapped. The printer is cabled to the network
switch, on the same subnet and the PC's local printer
port is using the 3rd party driver that came with the
network print server.

All settings look good and the printer is set to default
printer (HP PSC series).

As there only seems to be a problem printing from Secure
internet sites im wondering if i have missed a print or
network setting along the way.

If someone knows a solution or has even seen this under
windows XP i would be glad to hear from you. Oh this
problem does not occur from a windows 98 machine on the
same network on the same printer.

Hello all,

After setting up an HP Color Laserjet 3500 on a 2000 server we are having
problems where the print job resides as printed in the print queue and we
must manually clear the queue. We have tried to remove the printer and
re-added it to no avail.... Any thoughts or ideas?

4. Server 2003 R2 Print Management tool fails to enumerate all print queues

We are currently exploring the new R2 Print Management tool for use in
our
enterprise. We have approximately 900 print queues dispersed across
our
enterprise. We have found that the Print Management tool "times
out" and
stops retrieving the print queue information before completely
populating all
queue information for all print servers that we have configured in the
tool.
We generally see the tool stop with about 300 print queues listed
before the
tool times out.

Once the tool loads, we cannot refresh the views of the print queues
that
are missing in order to make them appear. It appears as if those
servers no
longer have print queues when viewed through that tool.

No error messages are displayed or logged when the tool times out. The
tool
only displays a partial list and does not give any indication as to why
this
occurred.

Has anyone experienced this before?

6. SP2 will not print to LJ3500 - Test page failed to print message

Installed XP SP2 on workstations, they can no longer print to HP LJ3500.
Tried old print drivers, scrubbed printer drivers from server and
workstations, downloaded beta drivers from HP, nothing works. Tried
installing printer from PC eliminating server using IP, same behavior.

XP machines, 2000 and NT print to it no problem. XP SP2 are the only
problem machines. This started immediately after the upgrade.

I try printing a document. When it does succeed in printing, it fails to
allow me to subsequently print an additional document. I have an HP Officejet

including: Office 2007 and Open Office. I turned off the print spooler, in
case that was the problem. In case my spooler was corrupted, I reinstalled
it, according to Microsoft's directions. I'm baffled! Any suggestions?
